Your most powerful year yet!
In this Wen-Do Women's Self-Defence Course, we are on a mission for you to feel more powerful and more free in your life. Let this year be your most powerful year yet.

In this course, we will tap into your knowing, your awareness and your power to reveal the most self-assured version of yourself.

I am here for women and nonbinary folks exactly like you: Women and enbys who know that the stereotypes about us aren't true. Still, it's hard to shake off that uncomfortable doubt: If I had to defend myself, could I?

Or, you are on a mission to make sure that the violence or abuse that you have experienced never, ever happens again.
You are in good company.

Wen-Do is different than any other self-defence program you have seen. In this course, you will prepare your mind and your body for greater confidence and to move more freely in this world. As your instructor, I will meet you at your ability and skill level and I will work to help you reveal your power.

This is simple and powerful self-defence that is effective against physically larger and stronger attackers, and designed to be used by us, in the situations we are most likely to experience danger.

*Wen-Do course content is accessible to all people and bodies. We regret that this space is not wheelchair accessible; there are three stairs leading to the entrance of the space and an additional five stairs to the studio space where the course will be held.

Wen-Do is survivor-centered, empowerment-based, accessible and intersectional self-defence. All women are welcome - and this of course includes transwomen. If you identify as gender nonbinary, please get in contact to see if the instructor can meet your needs. Together, we will strive to create a nonjudgmental space that respects each others' choices and lifestyles.

Class times are consecutive Wednesdays 6pm-9pm from January 16 to February 13. The exact location will be given to attendees upon registration.

"I really enjoyed taking this course. I was able to self-reflect and feel so empowered. Going forward I feel confident enough to stand up for myself and others when I see that they are in unwanted situations and/or harmful ones. Thank you for being so kind and patient w/ everyone. This course and Shai specifically has inspired me to be a better version of myself. Thank you so much!"
- Wilfrid Laurier University student and Wen-Do course participant, October 2018

"It took a lot of strength for me to make it to class on the first day because of how emotionally trying the thought of coming face-to-face with my feelings of physical inadequacy was... After the first class it was remarkable how secure and at peace I felt with embodying my whole physical and emotional self, knowing that I have the power within me to execute my Wen-Do skills if I need to use them... I will always know that I have infinite physical and emotional power as a woman and that my relationship to this power will help empower others to work towards a better world. Thank you thank you thank you."
