Santa Claus vs. The Martians
The hilarious holiday comedy Santa Claus vs. The Martians returns for a FIFTH time. Written by Andi Allen and directed by Kevin Michael Fuld, you will want to make sure you catch this holiday classic before it goes into semi-retirement!
The play, based on the 1960s infamously bad cult movie Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, was created by Allen in 2010 for Level Ground Arts. The show was a critical hit, which prompted LGA to revive the show in 2012. Camp Death Productions brought the show back to life in 2014 in Plano and 2016 at the Margo Jones Theatre in Fair Park. After this run, the show will be not be produced for at least 5 years.
The play recreates many of the hilariously bad acting moments and low budget props from the original film, as Martian leader Kimar kidnaps Earths Santa Claus in order to bring happiness and laughter to the children of Mars. Opposing Kimar in his plan are Martian villain Voldar, as well as two Earth children, Billy and Betty Foster.
Three cast members from the original 2010 production are returning, Alexis Nabors, Rhonda Durant, and Jordan Pokladnik. In addition, several actors from the 2014 & 2016 revivals are returning: Bill Otstott, Joel Frapart, Jeny Sidall, Lauren Ashley Hearn and Steve Roberts. New cast members and joining the comic mayhem include Veronica Day, Sunny Bundy, Eileen Kennedy Alger, Robert G Shores and Jake Shanahan.
Each time Santa has returned, new jokes have been added to keep the show fresh. This year is no different, with jokes added to fit the new cast members.
Santa Claus vs. the Martians runs December 8 through December 22 at the historic Margo Jones Theatre at Fair Park.
