River people need to get together, especially during the winter. What better opportunity than at the Mississippi River Water Trail Association's January event where you and your friends can meet other paddlers and learn from some great river experts.

This year our speakers are: Water Ways Council Midwest Region Vice President Paul C. Rhode, Center for American Archaeology Executive Director Dr. Jason King, and perennial favorite speaker Bryan Hopkins.

Adventure Speaker:
Bryan Hopkins will deliver his talk "Where the Rivers are Still King:  Paddling the Confluence of the White, Arkansas and Mississippi Rivers."

Safety Speaker:
Paul C. Rhode will present information on how to safely coexist with barges.  Learn what the tow captains wish you knew about paddling on the rivers that they travel.

Community, History and Perspective Speaker:
Last year was the first for a speaker on history and the topic was so popular that the trend continues this year.  Dr. Jason King will present his new research on old civilizations along the Illinois River.

If you have never toured a lock and dam, please come early for our exclusive tour of this engineering marvel at 2p.m.  The speakers begin at 3p.m. and continue to 6 p.m. when we will adjourn.  Many of us will head to the Bluff City Grill after the speakers for food, drink, and comradery.  While we will provide light refreshments at the museum during the breaks, you will be on your own for food at the restaurant.
