ABOUT THE EVENT:
In this Summer of Superman  when our hero celebrates his 75th birthday and Warner Bros. releases its blockbuster "Man of Steel" movie---Soho Gallery for Digital Art proudly presents a one-on-one discussion between LARRY TYE, author of "Superman: The High-Flying History of America's Most Enduring Hero" and DANNY FINGEROTH, author of "Superman on the Couch: What Superheroes Really tell Us About Ourselves and Our Society."

How has Superman managed to thrive for 75 years and counting? What did Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster have in mind when they brought him to life? What answers does Jerry Siegel's newly-discovered memoir offer? And who knew that Superman was Jewish? Superman experts TYE and FINGEROTH discuss these and many more earth-shattering questions, especially. "Why does Superman wear his underwear on the outside?"

ABOUT THE BOOKS:
LARRY TYE's "SUPERMAN: THE HIGH-FLYING HISTORY OF AMERICA'S MOST ENDURING HERO" is the first full-fledged biography not just of the Man of Steel, but of the visionary writers and artists, publishers and performers, who kept aloft the red-and-blue-clad icon through seven decades and counting. In the book, Tye shows us how Superman  like few other mythical characters before or since  has evolved in a way that offers a Rorschach test of his changing times and our highest aspirations. The paperback edition of the book has just been released.

DANNY FINGEROTH'S "SUPERMAN ON THE COUCH" is the definitive book on why people love superheroes. In this book, Fingerothfrom his perspective as a highly accomplished superhero comics writer and editorexplains why, in modern society, superhero culture has become the metaphorical prism through which we seeand liveour lives, and why superheroes have become potent myths for our times in movies, TV, and games, as well as in their birthplace, the comics.

[Both books will be available for sale and signing at the event.]
