Caeneus, by Samuel Edwards, directed by Ezekiel Baskin, based on a myth from Ovid's Metamorphoses, which centers around a transgender male character named Caeneus who is granted a wish by Poseidon to have how people perceive his gender transformed in order to have it be more in line with his internal reality. He goes on to join Jason's Argo in pursuit of becoming a hero as he has always dreamed. However, things end up being not quite what he expected. Throughout the play, Caeneus seeks to make sense of his own transformation, identity, and relationships, as he grapples with the fact that what he thought was an impossible fantasy is now everyday reality.
Please be advised this play contains themes of suicidality, underlying themes of transphobia and internalized homophobia.
Performances are November 28th and 29th at 7:30pm in the Red Barn. Tickets are donation based and can be reserved here, or purchased at the door on the day of the show!
