Vintage Pillbox or Downton Abbey style Hat Making Experience
Sahar Millinery hosts this fun and creative millinery experience, taking inspiration from the hats Sahar made for hit TV show Downton Abbey.
Learn how to traditionally steam and shape felt around wooden millinery hat blocks. You can create a cloche hat like Lady Marys, or zoom forward into the 50's and make a lovely little pillbox hat, or go contemporary with a Trilby or felt Fascinator.
In this class we teach actual millinery techniques, and allow plenty of creative expression with finishing your hat with bows, folds, pleats etc.
Please note, for a small, percher hat, or a free-form cloche hat, this is a one day workshop, and the cost is £150. If you'd like a create a proper, traditionally made upturned cloche hat, it is a two day course and the cost is £260. In this workshop, we use a two piece hat block, you will learn more skills, and your upturned cloche will look very professional. You also have the choice in the two day to actually block two hats - a percher hat and a cloche hat, for an extra £20.
Each participant will have one new hat to take away with them, similar to the hats Sahar sells for £250 - £300.
Guests gain a new skill, that of blocking felt.
Guests will gain an insight into the world of millinery - its materials, techniques, and how trimmings can drastically alter the look and feel of a hat.
