There is so much to know about the secret world of owls and the Illinois Raptor Center is certainly a place to learn about these creatures of the night.
IRC Directors, Jacques Nuzzo and Jane Seitz, will discuss with participants their 28 years of experience in owl rehabilitation, education, research, and natural history. Participants will get a minicourse on falconry equipment and how to correctly handle birds on the glove. By the end of the day each participant will have been personally introduced to a live Eastern Screech Owl, Barn Owl, Barred Owl, Great Horned Owl and Snowy Owl, and held them on their gloved hand.
The IRC wants participants to fully enjoy this owl experience without cellphones or cameras to worry about. We will take pictures and share them with participants online at no additional cost.
Participants should not wear sleeveless shirts or open toed shoes.
This camp is held from 9::00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 18th. The fee of $225.00 per person includes lunch. Fees from this event support the IRC's wildlife hospital.
Must be 18 years or older to attend. Seating is limited to 10 participants.
