Hotsy Totsy
Hotsy Totsy is the Collingswood, NJ-based indie-pop trio that emerged onto the Philadelphia music scene in 2014. Long-time best friends Jenny Pilong, Diana Carino and Amanda Brizzi decided they wanted to co-create a new and original sound that would not only highlight their individual talents, but foster unique harmonies and a seamless blend of voices. While their sound is definitely inspired by the girl groups of the '40s, '50s and '60s, says John Vettese of WXPN's The Key, "this band covers much more sonic territory than just that, from show tunes and vaudeville to jazzy expanses of mystery and vibe a la Bat For Lashes."
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, in the spring of 2016, Hotsy Totsy released their debut album "Fresh Pineapple." A year-and-a-half later, the girls re-entered the studio, this time at Gradwell House in Haddon Heights, NJ, and came back with their sophomore EP "Skeletons & Ghosts," as well as a holiday single entitled "Snow Day." In 2018 "Skeletons & Ghosts" started garnering airplay on over sixty AAA and college radio stations, nationally and internationally.
To quote Mike Penard (ISA Radio, France): "Hotsy Totsy... a sound that obviously reminds us of the girl bands but they found a way to sound original... from melancholy to pop melodies, there is a confidence that shines from these recordings, a confidence in their ability to travel a different sonic road."
Hotsy Totsy has graced many stages in the expanded tri- state area that include: World Cafe Live, Union Transfer, TLA, and Ortlieb's in Philadelphia; Smyrna Opera House, World Cafe Live at the Queen, and The LadyBug Festival in Delaware; as well as Rockwood Music Hall in New York City.
