"ROYAL REUNION CYPHER"
Back in the early 2000's Dj Johnny Venetti began a weekly Wednesday night Hip-Hop event in the heart of North Beach at a tiny spot known as The Royal. The performance series lasted for 6 years (at which time Johnny Venetti moved on to open his own locale known as The Showdown: 10 6th Street SF.)The night quickly turned into one of the livest, most dynamic and dopest Hip-Hop events in the Bay Area. The series would feature live bands, Dj's and always a host of singers, dancers and Some of illest Mc's passing off the mic with true lyricism, freestyles and battling skills. The night would consist of some of the most recognized, high profile MC's and musicians in the Bay as well as new, up and coming artists touching the mic for the first time. Artists such as DJ Johnny Venneti, DJ Aspect, The Park, The Jazz Mafia, MC Orukusaki, Karyn Paige, Mc Infinite, Seneca, and many more.
In honor of this piece of Bay Area musical history ARTE Y TAPAS is proud to announce "The Royal Reunion Cypher." This musical collaboration will bring together many of those artist from back in the North Beach days reuniting for a night of freestyles, lyrics and Madness. Featuring the one and only DJ L.L. Aspect (jazz mafia, slump co) on the 1's and 2's, San Francisco's own La Gente as the backing band and bringing together Emcee Infinite, Mc Mars, Kensho Kuma, MC Orukusaki, MC Davu, Brian Johnson (The Brooklyn Poet) and many many more.

La Gente is a Bay Area based international recording group led by singer-songwriter Rafael Bustamante Sarria. The group has created their own unique multilingual blend of Reggae, Cumbia, Hip-Hop, Salsa, Rock, and World Music. They perform a high energy dance party and have cultivated a large, loyal and diverse following, collaborating with a variety of international recording artists such as George Clinton and The P-Funk All Stars, E-40, The Digital Underground, Hyro-Glyphics, Coolio, Digable Planets, Pato Banton, Lyrics Born, Rupa & The April Fishes, Meklit Hadero, Pete Escovedo, and The B-side Players.
