Music on the Mounds is super excited to announce that Sassparilla will be joining our lineup on August 10th, 2013. This one promises to be an ass-shakin' good time as Sassparilla lights up the barn with their liquor drenched roots-rock sound. Complete with dancing, sing-along numbers, and plenty of good times!
Often hailed as a band that harkens back to the "glory days of the AM dial," Portland-based Sassparilla has tapped into the vein of American roots music and given their own unique voice to a classic sound. Sassparilla has been referred to as indie-roots, punk-Americana, and punk-roots.
Comprised of Kevin "Gus" Blackwell (vocals, cigar box guitar, national resonator guitar), the father and son combo of Ross "Dagger" Macdonald (harmonica) and Colin "Sweet Pea" Macdonald (washtub bass), Naima (vocals, accordian, washboard), and Justin Burkhart (drums), Sassparilla offers one of the most entertaining, sweaty live shows in the Pacific Northwest.
The Barn at Music On The Mounds holds a limited number of people (and we have to have room for dancing too!) so make your donation now to be sure you're on our guest list. Then go find your dancin' shoes and get ready to stomp, clap, whoop, and holler with the magic that is Sassparilla!
