NICKFEST
ROCKIN' TO REMEMBER NICK
The Indie Rock Showcase, NICKFEST, honoring Nicholas Henebury, takes place in the Tower District on Sunday, May 26 from noon to 7:00 p.m. The all-day music festival features 10 of the hottest indie bands for only $10. NICKFEST happens in The Golden parking lot on Fulton, just south of Olive Ave. in the Tower District.
This year's musical lineup features San Diego's Weatherbox (2013 SXSW performing artist), Elk Grove's The Speed Of Sound In Seawater, San Jose's Hard Girls and Long Beach's Littlest Viking. Local acts Strange Vine, The Quiet Americans, Light Thieves, Style Like Revelators, Achievement House, The Recliners, and The Return of Mega Man are also set to perform.
Nickfest was first organized in 2012 to honor and remember Nicholas Henebury who passed away Memorial Day weekend, 2007. Nick was a music enthusiast, had many friends in the local indie rock music scene and regularly attended concerts around Fresno. Mike Henebury, Nick's father, realized that many of Nick's friends are still actively playing in bands so he put together NICKFEST, in conjunction with Religious Appeal, to honor his son. Since the Tower District is known as the hub for live music in Fresno, it was decided that the Tower District was the perfect home for NICKFEST.
NICKFEST is a collaborative effort between he Tower District Marketing Committee, Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company and Religious Appeal. For more information call (559) 497-8362 or visit www.towerdistrict.org.
