Colin and Tess have given up their acting careers in New York City to take over a failing community theatre in the tiny Minnesota town of Christmas Lake. Disaster strikes in the midst of the Christmas season when they lose the rights to Its a Wonderful Life, a play that has kept the theatre alive for years. With only twenty-four hours until curtain, Colin and Tess, along with the only two actors left, race to come up with a new Christmas play and save the theatre from bankruptcy.
