Underground New Play Festival 2013
Celebrate the artistic achievements of our undergraduate playwrights, directors, designers, and actors in a festival dedicated to world-premiere plays and work created entirely by undergrads.

Every year, the Underground New Play Festival selects and mounts a full production for 4 new short plays. New and experienced directors, designers, and actors join together to create works of art bigger than any one person could hope for; works of art that could not exist as they do in any other place, with any other artists. Located at the Arthur Wagner Theatre.

Artistic Director- Sean Estelle
Managing Director- Carolyn Reynolds
Creative Assistant- Jaime Tuttle

THE PLAYS:

SHOWCASE A:

A Girl, A Dog, and A God - by Nathan Cook
Directed by Bethany Hamrick
Grad student Madison is in a spot of trouble. She's stuck at a bus stop in the middle of nowhere, Kansas, with a very eccentric man, and a slew of dilemmas - including marriage! As the borders between worlds break, and the mythological mixes with the mundane, Madison must make choices that will decide the fate of the entire human race.

The Separatist - by Timothy Barnett
Directed by Rebecca Doyle Dorado
Once deeply in love, Per and Anneli hit a wall when Ellie, their 2 year old daughter is brutally killed at Stockholm's Slussen subway station. Set in Sweden during the dead of winter, 'The Separatist' dives deep into the chaotic hearts of this young couple as they face death, deceit, and the silence that is the winter.

Showcase A Performances:
Friday May 31 @ 8:00 pm
Saturday June 8 @ 2:00 pm
Saturday June 8 @ 8:00 pm

SHOWCASE B:

Chalk - by Rebecca Hicks
Directed by Rebecca Limerick
An in-the-wings look at the absolute worst play. When a despotic stage manager mysteriously walks out on a performance, the disgruntled crew-members unleash their real feelings towards the production they are working on. Protocol and professionalism go out the window as chaos ensues. A comedic celebration of the backstage!

A Bill of Change - by Gursimrat Kaur
Directed by Anouk Chalmers
Jonny is about to sign the biggest deal of his life; a deal that will change more than just his fate. Set in the 1930's, A Bill of Change is a story of few individuals who aspire for something bigger than themselves.
