Sitka Sound Slayers is hosting Getsome Athletics in Sitka Alaska November 23-24
Saturday from 12-7pm Sunday from 8am-1pm
After the skating portion ends on sunday at 1 we will all move to The Pub down the road for a lunch time social gathering.
The clinic will be held at the Hames Center in Sitka, AK. www.hamescenter.com
Getsome Athletics is headed to Sitka to teach derby athletes all of the skills and strategies needed for roller derby! Come on Alaska join us for all sorts of derby education!!
There will be a skate clinic as well as a ref clinic so bring your leaguemates!!
Some of the classes that will be covered in the clinic include: - Change of speed - Contact, Containment and Killer instinct - Forcing players out - Jamming with Intelligence - Blocking to help your Jammer - Effective Start Line Strategy - How to be Effective in a Power Jam - Advanced Strategies and How to Counter Them
The ref clinic will be led by Rawk!! 2 full days of training and ref education provided by one of WFTDA's best refs!

Carmen Getsome:
Carmen Getsome is a 7 year Rat City Allstar member that has been voted by her leaguemates as MVP for the past five years in a row. A hardworking athlete that has proven her skill and leadership by not only skating for the currently #6 in the world roller derby team but by starting a banked track team. Carmen believes versatility is an important component to success so while you work with her at camp you will experience drills that resemble other sports and types of workouts that come together to not only improve your derby skills but your athleticism.
Shorty Ounce: Recongized by her teammates last year as the Rat City Rollergirls Rookie of the year, Shorty Ounce is proof that powerful things come in small packages!
Shorty Ounce has coached all over the world! From Australia to North Carolina, she has taught people how to hold their walls together to help people put their weight in the proper place while blocking to improve their position on the floor as well as how to be an all around awesome blocker!!
Rawk:
Eric RAWK has been a roller derby official since the beginning of 2006, during which time he's traveled around the world both to officiate and instruct officiating. He was the Head Referee of Gotham Girls Roller Derby for 2 years and a referee in the league for another year as well as being a referee for the Long Island Roller Rebels and the Angel City Derby Girls. At present RAWK is a referee with the Rat City Rollgirls, Puget Sound Outcast and Co-Head Referee for the Oly Rollers.
A full weekend of new classes and drills will be brought to this clinic and you will find yourself learning new techniques and strategies to catapult you and your team to the next level!
While this camp is 18 and over the league hosting it, the Sound Slayers from Sitka Alaska requires you to be 21 or over to join.
