The Swimsuit Area
Professional storytelller Elizabeth Lord finally presents her highly anticipated show. She has waited two years - wading through all of life's unexpected turns and twists that life often brings us.
The Swimsuit Area: those areas on a woman's body ( the breasts and the crotch area) that are socially forbidden to touch or even gaze at too long, unless you know the woman, and she agrees to your touch or gaze. While not giving away too much about The Swimsuit Area, this show explores reproduction in today's modern age. What it means to be a parent, and more importantly what it means to choose not to be a parent.
Previous shows by Elizabeth Lord include: Please Write, Vegas Childhood, Personal Ad, Smoking is Cool, Cheap Rent, and Getting There.
Elizabeth Lord has been performing professionally as a storyteller since 1996. She cut her teeth telling folktales at children's storytelling events, and eventually moved on to perform for adults telling folktales and stories from her own life.
She says: " Storytelling is what we all do on a daily basis. It is how we communicate, as humans. What I do is put these stories on stage, in a hopefully clever, and smart way so as to reveal our common humanity as well as reveal the humor that is inherent in all that is human and fallible."
