Bobby Shew Live In the Jazz Cave
The Nashville Jazz Workshop is delighted to welcome trumpeter Bobby Shew to the Jazz Cave for a special appearance Friday, November 30 at 8pm.
Bobby Shew is a legendary jazz educator and world-class player, whose career has spanned over 50 years. From lead trumpet on the bands of Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, and many Las Vegas house bands, to playing jazz in small groups lead by Horace Silver, Art, Pepper, and Bud Shank, and the big bands of Bill Holman, Louis Bellson, Terry Gibbs, and Maynard Ferguson, Shew is one of the most respected musicians and educators on the Los Angeles music scene.
Bobby's Jazz Cave appearance coincides with a a visit to Hume Fogg High School, where he will give a clinic and perform with their big band. We hope all students will also take this opportunity to hear this jazz legend in a small-group setting!
Joining Bobby for this concert will be Don Aliquo (saxophone), Chris Brown (drums), and NJW Founders Lori Mechem (piano) and Roger Spencer (bass). This is a concert you won't want to miss!
There will be two sets beginning at 8:00 pm in the Jazz Cave at the Workshop. Admission is $30 / $15 high school and college students with ID. Tickets will go on sale Monday November 19 at 10AM and will be available online on this page, by phone 24/7 at Brown Paper Tickets (800-838-3006) or during business hours at the NJW office (242-5299).
