THE COLONY, written by Gina Stevensen, directed by Nana Dakin. November 16th at 8pm and November 17th at 2pm
A young woman named Carrie Buck arrives at a mysterious medical facility. Where is her daughter? What is this place? Why is she here? Based on true events surrounding the 1927 Supreme Court case Buck vs. Bell, The Colony explores the xenophobia and reckless patriotism that swept through America nearly a hundred years ago, and the present-day reverberations of this controversial legacy.
ROSENSTRASSE: A NARRATIVE PROTEST, written by Jacob Marx Rice, directed by Katherine Wilkinson. November 15th at 8pm and November 17th at 8pm
In 1943, at the height of World War II, a group of German housewives staged the only open protest against the Nazi regime. Based on an incredible true story, Rosenstrasse follows three women trying to save their Jewish husbands from deportation to the concentration camps. Ilse, Marta and Doris must overcome their differences and come to terms with their complicity in order to protect those they love.
****Content Warning: Rosenstrasse is an immersive play about a real-life protest movement in Nazi Germany that asks audience members to participate in the protest. We think this story, like democracy, is best experienced as a participant. However, if you do not want to participate, you can elect to have no interactions with the actors and be seated in a dedicated, non-immersive section of the audience. You will be asked if you wish to participate or be a bystander when picking up your ticket at the theater. Thank you!****
All performances take place at DCTV (87 Lafayette St) in New York City.
