826michigan Presents "Writing the Unknown" with Sarah Gerkensmeyer!
"Write about what you don't know about what you know."
Heed this sage advice from Eudora Welty and tap into a sense of mystery and the unknown with short-story writer Sarah Gerkensmeyer, author of What You Are Now Enjoying. What You Are Now Enjoying won the Autumn House Press Fiction Prize and was longlisted for the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award.
Gerkensmeyer is a Pushcart Prize nominee whose work has appeared in Guernica, The Massachusetts Review, Hadyen's Ferry Review, and Cream City Review, among others.
"Writing the Unknown" is a continuation of local nonprofit 826michigan's series of How to Write Like I Do seminars for adults. These workshops benefit 826michigan's free creative writing and tutoring programs for students aged 6-18, which reach 2,500 youth in Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, and Detroit.
Purchase one admission for $25, or bring a friend and pay $40 for two. Pastries and coffee from Zingerman's Bakery provided.
