Jimmy LaFave
The Green Apple Art Center proudly announces that on June 21st award winning singer-songwriter Jimmy LaFave will be coming to Eden. He has recorded 15 albums and his 2007 release, Cimarron Manifesto, reached the #1 mark on the Americana Music Association album chart. He is a past winner of both the Kerrville Folk Festival and Austin Music Awards Songwriter of the Year, and was instrumental in crafting a musical style that became known Red Dirt Music. His sound has been described as a mix of rock, folk, rockabilly, and country, with heavy influences from legends Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan. He is an advisory board member and regular performer at the annual Woody Guthrie Folk Festival, and has been called "one of the finest Dylan interpreters ever."
LaFave has appeared on the TV show Austin City Limits, and graced the stage with the likes of Bruce Springsteen. Though one of the more respected songwriters of his generation, he easily mixes in covers of other writers into his own set, and they always sound like they were written with his singular, vibrato voice in mind. Few can sing a ballad with the intensity and emotion of Jimmy LaFave.
Please come welcome Jimmy and his band to the Green Apple on Friday June 21st. Tickets are $15 advance and $18 day of show. Doors open @ 7:30PM and show starts promptly at 8:00. Bring a friend or three and your favorite beverage to the newest music destination in Texas. You'll be glad you did!
