MSP430 Workshop
Introductory workshop for the MSP430 microcontroller family using the TI Launchpad kit. The workshop will include:
- A brief overview of embedded programming, focusing on the TI MSP430 launchpad and Energia (a port of the popular Arduino embedded programming language). -A hands on workshop building morse code "weather monitor". This is a small battery powered device that can be placed outdoors, and logs daily and weekly weather statistics. At night (or when a low enough light level is detected), the device uses an LED (and morse code) to broadcast the weather data to observers. The morse code weather monitor consists of a TI Launchpad, humidity sensor, light sensor, and temperature sensor. A laser cut enclosure will be provided, as well as the TI MSP430 Launchpad development kit, and all required sensors and LEDs.
This workshop will be appropriate for everyone from beginner programmers to those with experience with Arduino and other embedded platforms. Scaffolding code will be provided to help accelerate the development process, and those with more experience will have the opportunity to add additional features and customization.
