May 19, 2013 7pm to 11pm 21+ limited batch of $70 tickets.
Association May: 'Purpose' Dinner with Scott and Emily Ketterman of Crown Paella and Jelly Helm of Studio Jelly
In March, UNION/PINE, Merit Badge, and Ned Ludd launched 'Association', a new monthly dinner series designed to inspire with an evening of conversation, libations and delicious food. After two successful gatherings, we are excited to do it again.
For the May 19th dinner, Scott of Crown Paella will be preparing the incredible Spanish dish in two versions, vegetarian and seafood/meat cooked in the traditional pans and served family style.
With a talk based on the idea of 'purpose', our guest speaker Jelly Helm will inspire the 60 guests with thoughts built from his years as Executive Creative Director at Wieden+Kennedy, and campaign design work for Portland Timbers, Starbucks, and Nike, among many others.
Merit Badge will feature a series of paired wines selected by Union House Bottle Shop (opening June 2013), which is included in the $70 ticket price. Leila of Marushka Chocolate will provide dessert, and floral arrangements will be created by the lovely Megan Arambul with Fieldwork.
The evening will begin at 7pm with welcome cocktails, stationary snacks, and hellos, and guests will be seated for dinner around 7:45pm. Paired wine will be served with a tapa to start the meal, while Jelly gives a brief talk, and a paella feast will ensue! Dessert and a paired drink will follow, around 9pm. Dessert and a paired drink will follow, around 9pm and guests will be encouraged to mingle with a digestif and linger for a while.
The bar will be open throughout the night, so those wishing to procure a drink in addition to the four gratis will be welcome to swap or purchase another option. Guests will be encouraged to enjoy the company and the space until 11pm or so, when we are predicting the departure trickle will be complete.
June's dinner will include writer and director of Wieden+Kennedy 12, Andrew Dickson, and food by Olympic Provisions, and future dinners will feature Justin Lewis of Instrument for August, and a very special 'dark dinner' with Cyril's Wine Bar.
