An Evening of World Class Jazz
Totem's beautiful body of original Jazz compositions is drawn from personal stories with an ethereal edge. The world class trio has numerous musical accolades to their credit and they've individually played with the likes of Maynard Ferguson, Chita Rivera, Ornette Coleman, George Garzone, Dewey Redman, Pat Martino, Bucky Pitzirelli, and Jane Ira Bloom.
SUNY New Paltz "Professor" Sara Jecko, who is on the evening's bill with Totem has played Zydeco punk alongside some of her greatest friends, in the touring group, The Zydeco Pilots. She puts her unique stamp on some soulful standards and has a characteristic bevy of original tunes. Her sound has been described in the press as "Impressionistic folk-blues"with electric guitar, mind you.
The CBC Trio featuring renown bassist Charlie Kniceley, (Al Martino, Jerry Vale and Ron Carter) Saxophonist Bob Shaut, (Sax Life with Ed Summerlin, Ed Xiques and the late Ron Finck) and drummer Chris Bowman, (Percy Jones, Jane Ira Bloom, Ratzo Harris, Larry Rivers, Frank Kimbrough and Dave Binney), will round out the evening performances.
