Hillis is one of the busiest musicians in the Philadelphia area. He is an award-winning singer-songwriter and leader of the band Cliff Hillis and The Forward Thinkers. He also contributes his guitar and bass playing skills to regional favorites David Uosikkinens In the Pocket, Smash Palace and Starbelly, and he is a former member of Ike and John Fayes Power Trip. Hillis has toured worldwide with Patty Smyth, The Orchestra with members of the original Electric Light Orchestra and US Rails.

Hillis most recent recording, Many Happy Returns, was released in 2017 on TallBoy Records and features his signature brand of power pop. It is his seventh release under his own name and includes songwriting collaborations with Dan Bern, Bill DeMain and Robbie Rist.

In addition to performing and recording his music, Hillis is a noted producer and engineer and works at his studio, The Hacienda, in Phoenixville.
