Cape Breton fiddler Ian MacDougall and pianist Janine Randall bring their lively traditional tunes to the Canadian American Club for a Downeast style dance. Come learn the straightforward Mabou square set or simply sit and enjoy the music in the authentic atmosphere of the Canadian American Club. Born and raised in Foot Cape, Cape Breton, from ages 8 through to 17 Ian MacDougall studied fiddle under the guidance of cousin and prolific composer John MacDougall. With a lively driving style, he has become one the most sought-after dance and square dance players around. Ian has two albums to his credit, From Foot Cape and Before You Arrived.
Janine (Muise) Randall is a first generation American born of ex-pat, musical Cape Breton parents known for their legendary Boston house parties. She started step dancing as a young girl and later became a piano accompanist for Cape Breton dances and has performed with leading Cape Breton and Irish musicians from the Yukon to Scotland. With six CDs to her credit, Janine is also a researcher / teacher who has presented published papers and workshops on Cape Breton Music and Dance.
