Documentary Filmmaker Production: coaching & structure to get your movie made! (February 13th - March 20th)
Wednesdays on February 13th through March 20th | 6:30pm - 9:30pm (attendance at all six sessions required)

The challenge with filmmaking can often be as simple as isolation in creating the work and realizing your vision, but also in the complex structural planning and organizing that encompasses the business side of production. This course provides a solid foundation of support, structure, resources and space to workshop your film with peers while also learning from their experiences and process. The course will be facilitated by a seasoned documentary filmmaker who is well versed in ways to structure organization while gleaning local community resources, but also teaching from a place that deeply values the great assets that lay within group think and community building through peer relations in order to achieve success as an independent artist.
The course will be focused on:
Processing and workshopping ideas Brainstorming resources and tools Goal setting and supportive accountability Encouragement and overall making a lasting impact in your skill sets while making significant leaps towards the realization of your documentary film The course will meet every week for 6 weeks with a total of 6 sessions that are tiered to help you reach specific aims with your project.

Teaching Artist: Elliat Graney-Saucke
Elliat Graney-Saucke is a Seattle-based documentary filmmaker, with a body of over 20 short films, work that has screened in 13 countries, and is currently in year 10 of production on the feature documentary Boys on the Inside, about 'boy' identity in women's prisons. Elliat holds an MA in World Heritage Studies from Germany, gained while based in Berlin for 7 years. Elliat holds Artists Trust 2016 Fellowship, was a 2018 SIFF Fly Film Challenge Filmmaker and is currently coach with Artists Up, a pilot project focused on supporting marginalized artists in Seattle (Seattle Office of Arts and Culture/4Culture/ArtsWA). As Owner & Creative Director of Elliat Creative LLC, Elliat works with clients such as SAM and On the Boards as well as being the Media Documentation Research Lead on the NEA funded Knowledge Building Initiative, a living history project with the National Performance Network (New Orleans). Elliat's work is focused on intergenerational knowledge exchange and cultural equity, with a critical white queer/female lens.
