Digi-Art
Kids will unleash their wild, playful imaginations in this fun-filled and hands on workshop series! As the second volume of Powell Street Festival's children art workshops, Digi-Art will feature classes that provide kids with the opportunity to express their creativity using digital technology. Children and youth will learn new techniques and skills from practicing artists Yoshinori Tanaka (photography), Makiko Yoshii (print, animation), and Kazuho Yamamoto (mixed media). Digi-Art features local Japanese Canadian artists teaching kids how to:
-Take portrait photos with their digital cameras like a pro -Make a stop-motion video and using a mac laptop and video camera -Sew, draw, and design their own pouch or plush toy -Use simple skills in Adobe Photoshop, including toolbox, text, and layers -Develop a storyboard to create a flipbook -Make a whiteboard drawing animation using stop motion video

Date: Sunday, May 26th 2013 Video Workshop: 12:30 pm~2:00pm Learn how to Photograph like a Pro!: 12:30 pm~2:00pm Design your own Plush Toy or Tote Bag: 2:30 pm~4:00 pm Para Para Manga!: 2:30 pm~4:00 pm
*We kindly ask that all parents drop off their kids at least 5 minutes before classes start (12:25 pm or 2:25pm sharp) and to return for pick up at least 5 minutes before the end of classes (1:55pm or 3:55 pm sharp).
Each class costs $18.00 CAD per child and is 1 hour and 30 minutes long
Each class is limited to 4 children minimum and 10 children maximum per class
To Register contact the Powell Street Festival Society at 604 739 9388 or the Vancouver Japanese Language School at 604 254 2551. Registration ends on Friday, May 24th, 2013, 5pm.
If a class does not meet the 4 children minimum at the end of registration, the class will be canceled.
If the minimum number of registrants is not met, attempts will be made to reschedule the class on the same day. If classes are canceled by Powell Street Festival Society, money will be refunded. All sales are final and are not refundable unless class is canceled.
Please note that some classes require special equipment that the participant is responsible for bringing. Please see specific descriptions for each class for more details.
