Spoken Word Sandwich # 7
DAWG/BARR Productions presents: SPOKEN WORD SANDWICH #7 - An Evening of Word Jazz FEATURING MUSIC BY - GARRETSON & GORODETSKY POETRY BY - MONA JEAN CEDAR, RICH FERGUSON AND RAINDOG @ CROATIAN CULTURAL CENTER IN SAN PEDRO FRIDAY, MAY 17 For the first time in over a decade, Harbor-area poet Raindog's Spoken Word Sandwich An Evening of Word Jazz will take place Friday, May 17, 8:00 p.m. at the Croatian Cultural Center in San Pedro. Spoken Word Sandwich #7 will feature music by Garretson & Gorodetsky; L.A. spoken word artist Rich Ferguson; poet/Lummox Press publisher Raindog; and the Circuitry & Poetry of Mona Jean Cedar's communicative arts of dance, poetry, and sign language, accompanied by Jeff Boynton and his homemade/modified electronic instruments. Weba Garretson and Ralph Gorodetsky will perform "What Must the Hummingbird See?" that is a backyard song cycle of 15 short pieces about the daily occurrences of our urban wilderness, where skunks, opossums, owls, hawks, and cats manage to thrive. The music evokes a multitude of inuences --- from Hank Williams to Hanns Eisler. Their program will be divided into four 15-minute sets, and in between each set each poet will perform a 15-minute set, hence the "sandwich" effect. As Raindog describes, "It will be an evening of possibilities."
