Word To Your Mother
Word To Your Mother: Transformational stories from formerly incarcerated women
What happens when we get in trouble with the law and have to tell our mothers? How do we get past their anger and sometimes rejection at a time when we need them the most? Then, how do we, as new mothers ourselves deal with the overwhelming judgment from society when we are incarcerated?
Join us for an evening of performance and movement as young women share stories of facing their mothers; and being single, responsible mothers with all of the challenges, the courage and the joy.
There will be a talk-back following each performance. Reception Opening Night May 15
Rising Voices, a paid internship program of Community Works, is a collaborative theater ensemble of previously incarcerated young women ages 18-25 based at San Francisco Sheriff Department's Women's Resource Center.
