15th annual Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation's Off the Cuff Performances
As part of its 15th annual summer dance event, the Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation (SFDI) presents Off the Cuff, two evenings of innovative performance with leading improvisational dance artists from around the world. Off the Cuff is the only chance each year to see these world-renowned artists gather under one roof in the Northwest. Schedule subject to change.
Slated to perform are some of the shiniest stars of the improvisational dance world: Contact Improvisation pioneer Nancy Stark Smith (MA), with longtime collaborator, composer Mike Vargas (MA); dancer and author Andrea Olsen (VT); former Bebe Miller Company member Sarah Gamblin (TX); longtime Simone Forti collaborator Nora Hajos (Portland); Mary Ganzon (Portland); Mary-Clare McKenna (NY); Andrew Wass (CA); Butoh artist Jyl Shinjo Brewer (Vashon); Carolyn Stuart (Portland); local favorites Bianca Cabrera, Scott Davis, John & Anna Dixon, Nate Dryden, Mark Haim, Lila Hurwitz, Jurg Koch, Tonya Lockyer and Aaron Swartzman; and many more.

These concerts are part of the 15th annual SFDI (Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation), July 27-August 3, a world-renowned dance festival offering master classes with internationally recognized faculty, public performances, jams, and more. 23 dance artists from around the world and the state converge upon Seattle to teach and perform a wide variety of improvisational dance techniques.
