Henry VI, Part 1
Henry V has just died and left his crown to his 9-month-old son. That's where all the trouble begins. Adults crowd around the young king to jostle for power. Meanwhile, back in France, all the territories that Henry V won in his famous battles is slowly slipping back into French hands. The holy maid, Joan of Arc, has come to the rescue of the forlorn French! Under her leadership they take back what was theirs. This play is one of Shakespeare's first and the young playwright was trying to please an audience that was used to a world in turmoil. Battles abound. Nasty political intrigue. Basically, it's Shakespeare's summer blockbuster series! Stay tuned. We're going to bring you the whole story over the course of this season.
