EPAD Training - what is the best status for my company?
Edinburgh Performing Arts Development (EPAD) is a capacity-building project, supported by Capital Theatres and the City of Edinburgh Council. We act as a facilitator and connector, enabling Edinburgh's independent performing artists and producers to share in the knowledge, experience and facilities within the city's wider cultural infrastructure. We are delighted to be hosting an afternoon training session with Cultural Enterprise Office (CEO) on setting up as a legal entity. A range of different options will be outlined, giving you information about what is involved in establishing and running your project under the different structures. These will include details of running as a Sole Trader, in a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), a Limited Company and a Community Interest Company (CIC). Using practical examples, the seminar will focus on your perspective as creative artists and will respond to your needs and questions.
You will come away with a clear understanding of the different types of structure available and the requirements around governance and maintenance for each. You will know how different options can support and protect you as you further your career.
The training will take place on Thursday 6 December at the Festival Theatre, Edinburgh from 2 - 5pm followed by a glass of wine and opportunity for informal networking.
We are able to make a contribution of £25 to support those with costs as a carer who wish to attend the event.
