Cops & Robbers is a one-man play that takes a revolutionary look into the relationship between law enforcement, the media, and the black community.
Written and performed by Jinho "The Piper" Ferreira, a rapper with Flipsyde, actor, award winning screenwriter, and East Bay law enforcement officer, Cops & Robbers is directed by Ami Zins and Lew Levinson.
Cops & Robbers is a political Rochambeau, told in Rashomon style and a Riveting tour de force performance! Piper flawlessly plays all 16 characters weaving together the stories behind the crimes in our community, the way law enforcement reacts and the way the media spins the news.
"Seeing Cops & Robbers will definitely motivate people to take action in their communities." Hodari Davis, National Director of Youth Speaks.
The Rotary Club of Oakland is sponsoring tickets specifically set aside for youth and mentors/educators/seniors to attend the matinee performances. Rotary Club recognizes how critical multi-generational engagement is in programs and solutions to the violence that plagues our communities.
The matinee performances (performances with youth in the house) will be followed by an audience discussion with Piper and representatives from local violence prevention programs.
