A Cathedral Christmas
The Seattle Choral Company opens its 27th season with A Cathedral Christmas.
For the first time, the SCC will present its holiday concert in Saint Mark's Cathedral's spacious acoustics. Glorious music for divided choirs, harp, string orchestra and the famed Flentrop Pipe Organ will bring seasonal carols and ancient chants into the new century.
A Cathedral Christmas promises to bring together the music, the wonder, and the traditions that we all enjoy during the month of December. The program will include the following choral works, mostly by living American composers: Magnificat by Steven Sametz Gaudete by Steven Sametz The Babe of Bethlehem by Abbie Betinis Chanukah Suite by Jason Robert Brown Winter by Eric Whitacre Three Nativity Carols by Stephen Paulus Fantasia on Christmas Carols by Ralph Vaughan Williams Lo How a Rose Ere Blooming by Michael Praetorius, arr. by Jan Sandstrm Jing-ga-lye-ya by Bruce Sled Blow, Blow Thou Winter Wind by John Rutter Christmas Goes Classical by David Maddux
