The Dennis Brennan Band featuring Duke Levine, Kevin Barry, Richard Gates and Billy Beard return to the carpets of the Lizard Lounge for another Wednesday night mining the fantastic songs of Dennis Brennan and some choice covers. The interval tonight features Sonya Rae Taylor who is part of the new breed of blues and soul musicians, always searching for new ways to revitalize the form. A triple threat, Sonya is a fiery guitar slinger, soulful blues belter and a songwriter of depth and craft beyond her years. She is joined by her husband Ryan Taylor to form a powerful guitar duo. The couple has logged many miles in their young careers, from Boston to Austin then Nashville, where Sonya was signed by BMG Chrysalis.

Sonya is part of the new breed of blues and soul musicians, always searching for new ways to revitalize the form. The two have worked with or shared stage with artists ranging from Austin queen of soul, Tameca Jones, Gary Clark Jr, John Popper of Blues Traveler, John Medeski and Derrico Watson of the Victor Wooten Band and have made TV appearances on shows such as the the ABC series "Nashville". They are two of the finest young guitar players in the scene today and continue to provide audiences with high energy and soulful performances up and down the east coast and beyond.

MORE ON DENNIS BRENNAN.... To the uninitiated, Brennan could be considered Boston's own Leonard Cohen or Elvis Costello. His songwriting is respected by critics and musicians alike. Not only adept with the pen, Dennis Brennan is a highly accomplished performer and is known for his ability to span musical genres, styles, and era's with ease. His emotive and passionate voice is comfortable tackling classic country and R& B as well classic jazz, rock and blues.
But it's really Brennan's originals that have set him apart. The Chicago Sun Times described him as "A rootsy, hard-edged rocker with the barroom soul of the pre-Woodstock Graham Parker and the unsparing insight of a working class poet." It's a fitting description if ever there was one. To the initiated faithful who attend every show, Dennis and his band (which includes guitarists Duke Levine, Kevin Barry, Lyle Brewer, and Ian Kennedy on any given night along with the rhythm section of Billy Beard and Richard Gates) have etched so many indelible magical moments on the local collective conscious that they return each week to see what will happen next.
