Marquis de Saint-Loup Calvados Tasting
Calvados is a fine French brandy produced only in the Calvados department of Normandy, France. It is an eau-de-vie made by carefully distilling cider, then aging it in oak casks...for 2 to 75 years! If you like cider, or Cognac, or whiskey, you need to try Calvados!
Marquis de Saint-Loup is a premiere producer of cider and Calvados, and has been making some of the world's finest Calvados for three generations. At this tasting, we're going to try some very special releases, including:
* Marquis de Saint-Loup VS AOC Calvados (2 to 3 year old)
* Marquis de Saint-Loup Vieille Reserve AOC Calvados Pays D'Auge (3 to 4 year old)
* Marquis de Saint-Loup 15 year AOC Calvados
* Marquis de Saint-Loup 25 year AOC Calvados
* Marquis de Saint-Loup 40 year AOC Calvados
* Marquis de Saint-Loup 1987 Millesime AOC Calvados Pays D'Auge This last brandy has been aged up to 40 years in wood casks, patiently waiting for you to enjoy it!
The tasting will be presented by Joan Harkins, the importer, who will entertain and educate you about these special brandies. This sit-down, guided tasting in the Barrel Room includes light appetizers, or you're welcome to eat at The Barrel Thief, before or after the event.
The tasting is $40 for 1/2-ounce tastes of all of the above, and we'll have glass pours available with special pricing, in case the tastes are not enough.
This is a wonderful opportunity to try some classic French brandy and uncover the mysteries of the world of Calvados! Seating is very limited, so please don't hesitate if you're interested.
