Colleen Raney
THE COLLEEN RANEY BAND  www.colleenraney.com

With decades of individual touring and performing experience, Colleen Raney, Cary Novotny, and Johnny B. Connolly have become one of the most exciting and innovative bands in contemporary Irish music. Portland's Colleen Raney who has toured extensively throughout both the U.S. and Ireland, bookended 2011 with a pair of fine albums, respectively her second and third: January's lushly-produced Lark and last October's stripped-down Cuan.  Both garnered national and international airplay and acclaim. She breathes new life into the old songs, finding facets in the music that haven't been heard before and performing in the company of gifted friends who illustrate both the most delicate and upbeat aspects of her winning style. It's earned her a following both among longtime adherents of Celtic music and younger fans who are new to the genre.

JOHNNY B. CONNOLLY - button accordion

Johnny B. Connolly was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. He began playing when he was eight and by age 15 he was a regular feature around his hometown, performing with musicians sometimes twice his age. Johnny's dexterity on the accordion earned him a place with the established Celtic ensemble, Anam, at the age of seventeen. In 1996 Johnny seized an opportunity to bring his skills to America. In 2001 he signed with Green Linnet records and released his first album entitled "Bridgetown" named after his adopted hometown, Portland. While based in Portland, Johnny tours internationally, performing at festivals, concerts, and schools.

CARY NOVOTNY  guitar, backing vocals

Cary Novotny's distinct style of guitar playing has made him one of the most sought after accompanists in traditional Irish Music.  After immersing himself in Bluegrass, Country, Folk, and Classical guitar styles, Cary discovered a deep love for Irish music and turned his attention to the songs and tunes of the tradition.  From 1995 to the present, Novotny has performed with Northwest Irish band "Cul an Ti," with hundreds of performances of a mixture of lively traditional Irish tunes and many of the great Irish folk songs and pub songs.   Cul an Ti has most recently featured internationally renowned flautist Laurence Nugent.  Novotny continues to maintain a busy schedule as a guitar accompanist in the world of Celtic music and has recorded and performed with many other great Irish musicians in the world, including Kevin Burke, The Bridies, Johnny Connolly, Hanz Araki, Derek Warfield, and the touring Irish dance show "Celtic Legends."
