The Los Angeles Valley College Department of Theatre presents Paula Vogel's THE BALTIMORE WALTZ.  Performances begin Thursday, November 15 and continue through Sunday, November 18.  Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening performances are at 7:30pm; the curtain time for Sunday's matinee is 2:00pm.  All performances are in the LAVC Horseshoe Theater.

A young school teacher, Anna, takes a European trip with her brother, Carl, after discovering she has contracted a fatal illness called, ATD (Acquired Toilet Disease.) This whirlwind adventure through France and Germany begins positively but takes a dark turn when they discover they are being followed by a mysterious stranger they can't shake off. As Anna tries to waltz around the truth, she eventually faces the reality of her circumstances and accepts that fantasy is a fabrication of denial.

"A tender, caustic comedy..."--NY Times.

"A rare and magnificent work.  A celebration of life at the same time it is a heart-rending evocation of loss."--Baltimore Sun.

Paula Vogel is an American playwright whose most recent work for the stage is INDECENT; Ms. Vogel received the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for her play HOW I LEARNED TO DRIVE.

Featured in the cast of THE BALTIMORE WALTZ are Valley students Coco Briscoe, Joshua Esquivel and Nicholas Barrows.  The director is Valley alum and recent graduate of UCSB, Kathy Arevalo.  The scenic design is by department chair Jennifer L. Read, the costumes by Valley student Jacqueline Colindres, and the lighting design by Valley student Stephanie Morales.  Production stage manager and sound designer is Enver Messano.

Performances of THE BALTIMORE WALTZ are in the LAVC Horseshoe Theatre Thursday-Saturday, November 15-17 at 7:30pm and Sunday, November 18 at 2pm.  Seating is limited so make your reservations now!
