Chuckanut Radio Hour featuring T.A. Warger, author of Murder & Mayhem in the 4th Corner
Murder & Mayhem in the Fourth Corner: True Stories of Whatcom, Skagit & San Juan Counties Earliest Homicides, is the third book in a series of true crime stories occurring in the confines of Washington States northwest corner during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The region has had a vivid history of slayings, much like anywhere else. There included: beheadings, shootings, stabbings, poisonings, hangings, strangling, and bludgeoning. The stories within barely scratch the surface. The tantalizing stories within include: Mrs. Thomas potato patch in Happy Valley, 1908. David Long, who was only protecting his daughter in Sehome, 1892. Murder-suicide on the Everson-Goshen Road, near Rome, 1909. The disappearance of Mrs. Pinkerton in Blaine, 1916. Nora Gossett, found in her well on the Kickerville Road, 1941. Deadly altercation on Point Roberts, 1883. Whatcom Countys first hanging, and the last public hanging in the state, 1902. Gun battle on Samish Island, 1895. The Great Northern massacre in the Chuchanuts, 1914. How spousal abuse was handled in Mount Vernon in 1900. And, deadly encounter on Blakely Island, 1895-97.
Todd Warger grew-up in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, in the small community of Shelburne Falls. He graduated from the University of Nevada with a B.A. in history, relocated to Bellingham, Washington to attend Graduate school. Warger is an Emmy Award nominee for the documentary film, The Mountain Runners. He is a recipient of the Washington State Historical Societys 2008 David Douglas award for the documentary film, Shipyard. And, co-author of Images of America: Mount Baker.

The Chuckanut Radio Hour, a recipient of Bellingham's prestigious Mayor's Arts Award, is a radio variety show that began in January 2007. Each Chuckanut Radio Hour includes guest authors, musicians, performance poet Kevin Murphy, and episodes of "As the Ham Turns" serial radio comedy, not to mention groaner jokes by hosts Paul Hanson, Kelly Evert, and announcer Rich Donnelly. The Chuckanut Radio Hour's first guest was Erik Larson and has since included Alexander McCall Smith, Elizabeth George, Cheryl Strayed, Tom Robbins and Garrison Keillor, among many others.
