An American Book of the Dead (The Game Show!)
ONE GAME SHOW. THREE CONTESTANTS. AS MANY LIVES AS IT TAKES
Total enlightenment, the bliss of personal fulfillment and a two-week all-expense-paid trip to Cabo can all be yours in this smart, outrageous show from Director Mike Shapiro. Written by Paul Mullin, AN AMERICAN BOOK OF THE DEAD (THE GAME SHOW!) highlights our nation's most intriguing, ugly, comic, and trippy moments, journeying across four hundred years of uniquely American territory.
In AN AMERICAN BOOK OF THE DEAD (THE GAME SHOW!), three lucky contestants live and die their way through myriad American lives as they compete to achieve their Soul Goals and win the grand prize of perfect enlightenment. The entire history of the United States becomes their playing field -- from Jamestown cannibalism to Andy Warhol's grooving New York, from the robber barons of the Open West to the World Trade Center attacks and beyond. In between lives, the contestants visit the Bardo realms, surreal worlds between death and rebirth where Stonewall Jackson and Harriet Tubman are husband and wife and where a young Bill Gates looks for love in all the wrong places.
The ensemble cast contains some new faces and a host of Seattle fringe favorites, including: Audrey Freudenberg, Basil Harris, Bob Williams, Bruce Hall, Christina Mastin, Clare Aronow, Gillian Jorgensen, James Cowan, Josef Krebs, Rachel Pate, Ray Tagavilla, and Stan Shields.
It is stage managed by Megan Histand and features scenic design by Jennifer Zeyl.
