Documentary: Operation Filmmaker
This is the story of how well-intentioned Americans try to intervene in the life of an Iraqi and how nothing goes as planned. Actor Liev Schrieber, after seeing an MTV reality show clip, recruits Iraqi film student Muthana Mohmed to intern on his production of Everything Is Illuminated. Quickly though, intentions devolve into a complex, moral quagmire and an all-consuming power struggle between filmmaker and subject without a good exit strategy. Engaging, often comical, the film draws a sublty nuanced parallel to our involvement in Iraq.
