Feed Your Soul / Meet the Chefs: Ruhlman and Barber at Chautauqua
Foodies, this is a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Led by Christa Glennie Seychew (former Food Editor for Buffalo Rising Magazine), Feed Your Soul's select group of guests will depart from Buffalo with style in a custom limousine where a light and tasty breakfast will be provided. Arriving at the historic Chautauqua Institution, guests will be greeted by Sandy Starks (founding member of Slow Food Buffalo) and seated in some of the best seats the stunning Amphitheater has to offer. There they will be entertained and informed with a lecture from the great chef, author (Soul of a Chef, The French Laundry Cookbook, Elements of Cooking) and television star (Next Iron Chef America, Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations), Michael Ruhlman. Also speaking will be likeminded, award-winning chef, restaurateur and food writer, Dan Barber of Blue Hill and Blue Hill at Stone Barns.
Feed Your Soul's guests will then convene to The Athenaeum, Chautauqua's striking 1880s-era hotel, for a perfect French-inspired lunch prepared especially for us by CIA-trained chef, Scott Bova. Afterwards, guests will be given the opportunity to explore the unique grounds of the lakeside Institution which is peppered with shops, galleries and Victorian artists' cottages. Cocktail hour and passed hors d'oeuvres at one of the Institution's private homes will provide refreshment before our return to the city.
Feed Your Soul's 'Meet the Chefs' event includes: * Transportation via limousine to and from the Chautauqua Institution (designated pick up and drop off location in Buffalo to be determined) * A selection of pastries, juice and coffee to be served en route * Gate pass and map of the Chautauqua Institution's grounds * An exquisite French-inspired lunch at The Athenaeum * Cocktail hour and passed hors d'oeuvres at a private home on the Institution grounds **With any luck, our connections at the Chautauqua Institution will help us arrange a private meeting with Michael Ruhlman and Dan Barber, but at this time we are unable to offer any guarantees.
