Milwaukee Youth Theatre presents the performance of THE HUNDRED DRESSES on Friday, February 8, 2019, at 7:00 pm at Lincoln Center of the Arts Middle School, 820 E Knapp St, Milwaukee. This show is performed by a youth cast ages 8-18. The play is written by Mary Hall Surface and based on the book by Eleanor Estes. The production is funded in part by a grant from the City of Milwaukee Arts Board and the Wisconsin Arts Board. Wanda Petronski, from a Polish immigrant family, attends school with Peggy and Maddie in the 1930s. She struggles to fit in because she has difficulty with English and always wears the same dress to school. Wanda claims to have 100 dresses in her closet of all colors and styles. So Peggy teases Wanda and a schoolyard teasing game begins in which the students ask Wanda every day about her 100 dresses. Maddie know it is not right and feels increasingly uncomfortable with the teasing but doesn't do anything to stop it. A drawing contest brings surprises to everyone and decisions about facing bullying will capture audience attention.
