Event
Kekene XII 2018
This years dance-drama will honor Mamadou Dahoue, a fellow Ivory Coast master dancer whose passing in 2017 has touched the West African dance and drum diaspora community. Dahoues service to teaching Ivory Coast dance and drum culture seeded interest and love for the traditions in many communities and schools, as well as nurturing youth development. His life will be honored with staged funeral and memorial rites in West African village rituals. Joy and celebration will mark his return to the ancestors, with powerful rhythms, vibrant dances, expressive song and chants, and colorful costumes.
