Voices Concerts
Voices Fall Concert - The Circle Unbroken Voices from the Heart sings what they feel, and feels what they sing with 200 a cappella women's voices on November 17 at 4:00 and 7:30 p.m. at South Church, 292 State Street in Portsmouth, directed by Joanne Connolly. The concert explores The Circle Unbroken....singing songs from our One World! Will the Circle Be Unbroken is a new take on the traditional American song calling us to be a more respectful connected world...where everyone is invited into the circle. Connolly says, After our 3-week singing and humanitarian tour of South Africa this summer we return to our home stage in Portsmouth with two great South African tunes....Pata Pata made famous by the world renown Mariam Makeba and the South African song and dance tune, Emarabini. We bring these songs home and include them in the circle of American music...remembering Aretha with Natural Women...continuing to sing for a call to end gun violence with a Dixie Chicks song, and a song of remembrance dedicated to the latest victims of gun violence in Pittsburgh with a traditional Jewish song, Hashinvenu. Our songs will uplift, delight, honor and celebrate all in one evening. Kent Allyn, Jon Booth and Rob Kneeland will be on hand with piano, bass and drums to ramp up the beat. This concert is sure to lift and celebrate the spirit! Don't miss Voices from the Heart Fall Concert, The Circle Unbroken. Tickets are sure to sell out and are available now in Portsmouth at RiverRun Bookstore in Portsmouth at 32 Daniel Street, and, on line, at brownpapertickets.com or at the Voices website, voicesfromtheheart.org.
