AIAOC Lecture Series- High Design and Affordable Housing, David Baker, FAIA
David Baker, FAIA, is the founding principal of David Baker Architects, a progressive firm based in San Francisco, Oakland, and Birmingham, Alabama, that creates acclaimed buildings in urban environments. DBA is known for exceptional housing, creative site strategies, designing for density, and integrating new construction into the public realm.
A Fellow of the AIA since 1996, David has more recently been honored as the Non-Profit Housing Association's Visionary and Innovative Leader in Design and as the AIA California Council's 2012 Distinguished Practice. In 2010 David received the Hearthstone Builder Humanitarian Award, honoring the housing industry's 30 most influential people of the past 30 years.
David is Chief Design Officer of Factory OS, a new modular factory in Northern California that is streamlining prefabricated construction. DBA's Union project, a community-focused mixed-use building with 110 units in West Oakland, is currently on the line on the Factory OS floor.
