VISIONS Contemporary Ballet, a New York City-based ethnically diverse company, makes its Detroit premiere with the presentation of Healing Works II. The company, led by Ranardo-Domeico Grays, artistic director/choreographer, relays universal messages of the human experience. Ranardo, a Detroit native, is a four-year brain cancer survivor who's creatively flourishing. He is proud to bring his company home to share his spiritually uplifting contemporary ballets with the community that first nurtured dance in his life. Featured in the evening's program is "Queen of Soul," a piece dedicated to Aretha Franklin. The company will also be performing his newly completed work, "Dash Between," about living life in the dash between "born" and "died;" "Through the Valley," which explores facing obstacles in one's fight for health and life; and "Roots," rooted in prayer, about self-growth.
