A Tuna Christmas
Christmas Season Comedy: "A Tuna Christmas"
Written by Jaston williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard; Directed by Linda Jensen
In this hilarious sequel to Greater Tuna (performed by the Jewel Box in the 2011-2012 season), its Christmas in the third-smallest town in Texas. Radio station OKKK news personalities Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie report on various Yuletide activities, including the hot competition in the annual lawn-display contest, won 14 times in a row by Vera Carp.
In other news, voracious Joe Bob Lipseys production of A Christmas Carol is jeopardized by unpaid electric bills. Many colorful Tuna denizens, some you will recognize from Greater Tuna and some appearing here for the first time, join in the holiday fun.
The plays are an affectionate comment on small-town, Southern life and attitudes but also a withering satire of the same. The plays are notable in that two men play the entire cast of over twenty eccentric characters of multiple genders and various ages.
A Tuna Christmas debuted in 1989 with touring ending in 2012 after Sears retirement from the troupe. A Tuna Christmas is a total delight for all seasons! Get away from your Christmas to do list and join us for a laughfilled evening. Linda Jensen is directing A Tuna Christmas. She has directed other Jewel Box hits: Greater Tuna and The Games Afoot.
