Join baritone Igor Vieira and soprano Julia Nielsen as they present a colorful and whimsical Bestiary of Songa compendium of musical portraits of birds and beasts, written by some of the greatest composers of the last two and a half centuries. Creatures that fly, gallop, slither, lumber, swim, and scurry will all be represented, from butterflies to hippopotami, a herd horses, a bevy of assorted birds, mewling cats, snails and snakes, as well as an infamous darting trout. This musical Noahs Ark will also include a magical creature or two! The program will include works by Schubert, Rossini, Chabrier, Chausson, Heggie, Hundley, Hoiby, and Copland, among others, as well as Brazilian songs. Children are especially welcome at this concert.
