The checkpoint is closed. "Detour, detour!" shouts a taxi driver announcing the beginning of a journey. The film follows various attempts of individuals in their search for gaps in the Wall in order to sneak past it.
In My Mother's Arms Mohamed Al-Daradji, Iraq, 2012, 82 mins
In My Mother's Arms follows several, orphaned children who live and study in the same room of a small rented house in Baghdad. They have no one to support them but Hesham, a student who works tirelessly to protect them from the dangers of the street. The landlord demands they vacate his house and now the only sanctuary these children have ever known is about to be lost. The film was shot in 2010, the future of the orphanage has yet to be resolved.
