Hollywood Heritage and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Present: Remembering Tyrone Power on Thursday, November 15th at 7:30PM. This special Evening @ the Barn program is a tribute to Legendary actor Tyrone Power whose untimely death on November 15, 1958 at age 44 sent shock waves through Hollywood.
Presented in conjunction with the annual memorial service held at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, we will be screening his 1953 film "The Mississippi Gambler", courtesy of Universal Pictures. Actress Piper Laurie, Power's co-star in the film will be joining us for a Q&A before the film to share her memories of working with him.
In addition, there will be a panel discussion about Power's life and career featuring film writer Susan King and historian Maria Ciaccia alongside Power's children Romina Power and Tyrone Power, Jr.(Schedules permitting).
Universal Pictures Archives will be loaning a dress worn by Ms. Laurie in "The Mississippi Gambler" that will be on display in our front gallery along with costume sketches, still photos and posters from the film.
As always we will be featuring our famous $1 raffle and caterer Debbie Kimball will be selling a delicious selection of food items before the show... so come hungry! This event is likely to sell-out quickly, so we recommend purchasing tickets beforehand to avoid disappointment!
